Smartfeed Mobile SDK
The Smartfeed Mobile SDK is the mobile surface of Outbrain's recommendation platform. It fetches and displays personalized content recommendations directly within the content of publisher apps, reaching readers inside titles like CNN, Sky News, ESPN, and many more.
Our work spans all three client platforms - iOS, Android, and React Native - with a consistent API and behavior across each, so publishers get the same integration experience regardless of the stack they ship on.
We lead mobile development end-to-end, partnering closely with Outbrain's product and other internal teams to shape the SDK roadmap and ship features in step with the wider platform.
Project highlights
Native foundations
Built on Kotlin for Android and Objective-C / Swift for iOS, with first-class integration into RecyclerView, UITableView, and UICollectionView. A WebView-based integration option is available for hybrid surfaces, with full viewability tracking preserved inside the WebView.
Viewability tracking
Measures the visible percentage of any component in real time and monitors scroll position continuously, giving publishers and advertisers accurate exposure signals across native and WebView surfaces.
Monetization
Beyond editorial recommendations, the SDK supports monetization formats - including video ads rendered above existing recommendations within the feed.
CI/CD release pipeline
A full CI/CD pipeline publishes tagged, verified builds directly to the package managers publishers integrate with - CocoaPods and Swift Package Manager for iOS, Maven Central for Android, and NPM for React Native.
